Nick’s Note: I don’t know anyone who spends more time on the road investigating and educating about cryptocurrencies than Teeka Tiwari.

It’s all part of his mission to help people safely grow their wealth so they can enjoy a comfortable, dignified retirement. And it keeps him almost constantly on the move.

But I managed to catch up with him the other day for a quick chat about cryptos… gold… and the secret ingredient in his cherry pie.

By Nick Rokke, analyst, The Palm Beach Daily

Nick: T, just a couple weeks ago you were in Portugal. Then you were down here in Delray Beach last week for the Q&A seminar. And now you’re in San Francisco? Do you ever stop traveling?

Teeka: Doesn’t feel like it. But when there’s an exciting new investment, I need to get out there and talk to as many people as possible. That’s why I was in Portugal. And also why I’m in San Francisco. I’m at the Silver and Gold Summit, where I’ll be on a panel debating which is better: gold or cryptocurrencies?

I’ll be up there with Doug Casey, the founder of Casey Research, Jim Rickards from Agora Financial, and a couple other people.

Doug and I will be on the same side. We’ve had several good talks about cryptocurrencies. But Jim Rickards is anti-bitcoin. And he’ll make the debate interesting and lively.

Nick: Sounds like a tough crowd for you.

Teeka: I’m not worried—gold guys no longer hate cryptos. A lot of them realize many of the reasons for owning gold are the same for owning cryptocurrencies. The fact that it’s outside government control and can be used as a medium of exchange excites the gold crowd.

Most of these guys just need to learn more before they pull the trigger and buy bitcoin. And that’s why I’m there. I’m there to convert some of the gold guys to crypto buyers… And I’ve got to shake hands on a $10,000 bet…

I just bet someone that bitcoin would go up more than his favorite gold mining company. I’m not going to tell anyone outside of the conference what stock it is because I don’t want to help promote it. But I feel good about my chances of winning.

Bitcoin is just reaching the point where people outside of Palm Beach Research Group are starting to hear about it. And institutions are about to pile into bitcoin.

Right now, there are over 120 hedge funds investing in only cryptocurrencies. And they all recently opened or are in the process of raising money.

And we’re seeing futures contracts start, which will allow these institutions to hedge their positions and leverage their bets.

The amount of institutional money will be like an elephant trying to burst through a mouse hole. And the crypto market is going to go crazy next year.

Nick: Good luck on the bet… When you were in the office, you seemed pretty bummed that this conference was going to cause you to miss opening day for hunting season. Have you gotten over that yet?

Teeka: Actually, I’m not going to miss it. Since Thanksgiving is early this year, opening day is the Monday after in Pennsylvania. So I’ll get to go. At least in the morning, because I’m heading to the Consensus Blockchain Summit in New York that night.

Nick: Another conference? Wow… Will the morning be enough time for you to get a deer?

Teeka: I think so. The first day is always the best. After that, the deer get scared and don’t move around as much.

Last year, I got a 6-point buck on opening day within a couple hours of sitting down. And I’m hoping that happens again.

Nick: Well, good luck. I hear that’s not the only tradition you’ve got around Thanksgiving. There’s a rumor going around the office that you’re quite the cook.

Teeka: Yes, I love to cook. One of my favorite traditions is what I call the dessert decathlon.

I invite friends over after dinner, and I have a spread of 10 different desserts. And anyone who eats all 10 completes the decathlon.

It might be a little different this year because of the Silver and Gold Summit. It’s a weeklong affair for me. I usually start baking on Monday, but I won’t get back until Wednesday this year.

My kids are upset that they’re not going to get everything they’re used to. I make these French brioche cinnamon buns that take two days to make properly. I’m telling you, they are to die for—I’m glad they’re so hard to make, otherwise I’d be eating them all the time.

I make homemade croissants. And some devil’s bread—they call it that because once you start eating it, you can’t stop. I also make several pies including pecan, pumpkin, and apple.

But perhaps the dessert people like the most is the cherry pie. I swear, it’s the best cherry pie you will ever eat in your life.

Nick: That sounds amazing. What’s the secret ingredient to the cherry pie?

Teeka: Living in rural Pennsylvania, I am surrounded by farmers. So I buy pigs from a local farm, butcher them myself, and render my own lard. I use a 50/50 mix of lard and butter. It makes the most delicious, flaky pastry you’ve ever eaten.

Nick: You’re a real Renaissance man… Thanks for taking the time to talk to us today. Safe travels.
