From Elspeth T.: I’ve been a Legacy Portfolio subscriber since August 2012. I have every confidence in the strategy, safety, and logic of the system.

But for ethical reasons, I’ve avoided investing in many Legacy stocks.

While they might be some of the most profitable businesses in the world, they’ve also caused suffering… ruined environments, lives, and communities… and failed to be accountable.

How do you justify investing in these companies for monetary gain? One day, I hope we realize we only win when everyone else wins, too.

Reeves’ Comment: Elspeth, like it or not… if you’ve ever bought electronics, paid taxes, ridden in an automobile, or done any other “normal” life activity, you’ve subsidized some degree of harm or injury in this world.

Corporations and governments are comprised of humans… and humans are imperfect creatures. They will use the resources you give them for negative ends in some way. It’s unavoidable.

Our job is to provide you with the best investment recommendations—without prejudice. They’re based on the financial realities of an imperfect world.

Then, it’s your job to apply your own ethics in making investment decisions… and every other life choice. We’d never presume to make these important decisions for you. Thanks for your letter.
