- Use a virtual private network (VPN).
- Vet suspicious websites with urlquery.net.
- Use Little Snitch to monitor your computer’s outgoing communications.
- Hover over links before clicking them. Make sure the address matches the URL you’re trying to visit.
- Turn off your phone’s Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when you leave the house.
- Switch to a complex passcode for your phone (instead of four digits).
- Turn on full disk encryption.
- Instruct your cable/telephone/Internet service provider (ISP) not to give out your information to anyone who can’t supply a predesignated pin.
- Make your social media accounts private.
