A worldwide team of 31 respected scientists says we’ve been looking at dementia all wrong…

The Telegraph reports the researchers believe the herpes simplex virus (HSV1) is a major culprit in Alzheimer’s disease.

Herpes is the virus that causes cold sores. It’s often transmitted through kissing. Around two-thirds of all people will contract some form of herpes at some point in their lives.

Other microbes—like the chlamydia bacteria and some types of fungi—may also play a role.

The article goes on to show the scientists’ warning couldn’t be more blunt:

Professor Douglas Kell of the University of Manchester’s School of Chemistry, said “…there is incontrovertible evidence that Alzheimer’s disease has a dormant microbial component… We can’t keep ignoring all of the evidence.”

Not all scientists and doctors agree with the microbial-Alzheimer’s link… but it looks like there’s a strong case for further research here. Read the full eye-opening article right here.
